Leonard: The Oral Traditions and Communicative Practices of the Inugguit

The World Oral Literature Project is pleased to host the collection of Stephen Pax Leonard. Details of the full collection can be browsed on DSpace@Cambridge by clicking here.

This collection comprises over 50 audio and visual recordings of elderly Inugguit telling their life stories and recounting survival strategies in one of the world's most hostile environments. The songs and drum-dancing are an ancient tradition that few now remember.

Stephen Pax Leonard recorded this collection between August 2010 and August 2011. The video below is a sample of the whole collection, which will be made available at a later date. Should you have any specific requests about the scope and nature of the content in the collection, you can contact the researcher at his email address: spl42 at cam.ac.uk.
